Written By: Alyson Ramsbottom - Date: March 1, 2019 We have all been there, night of St Patrick's Day, green beer everywhere, including spilling down your back from the guy who started “celebrating” a little too early. Don’t blame him, this is the one day of the year where everyone parties for some reason nobody quite knows why and it’s JUST FINE. But if you want to be the one to bring a little festive trivia to the group and impress your friends, keep reading and we will tell you some fun facts about St Pattys Day and give you tips on how to make your party stand out from the rest! Step 1: Ditch the green beer and step up your game with easy, simple, and much more impressive green cocktails! Especially if you’re working in a bar, create your own green cocktail using midori or sour apple schnapps. Or just add some green food coloring to champagne and take your party from frat-phat!
Step 2: Drop some knowledge! Did you know that St Patrick was born in Britain? Did you know that the original color for St Patricks day was blue? Or that it used to be a dry holiday? These are interesting nuggets of information to drop during conversation or you can turn your whole party into a trivia night while still playing tunes with Fat Bottom Trivia 3.2 - "St Paddy's Day Party" or the St Paddy's Music dobOFF Bingo Cards. You can choose your own questions or pick from a variety of pre-made games for less than ten bucks. Always a fun way to keep everyone entertained! Step 3: Party favors! Now that you’re throwing the most authentic soiree around, stick with traditions! For over 60 years, the Prime Minister of Ireland has presented the President of the United states with a bowl of Shamrocks as a symbol of good tidings. Starting in 1952 with President Truman and Prime Minister Kenny, it has become a long standing tradition between the two countries. I’m not saying you need to hand out an entire bowl, but Amazon has packs of shamrock shot glasses and necklaces that can be at your door in two days! Easy peasy. Step 4: Food. A necessity for any event, but especially one that is solely focused around excessive consumption of alcohol. No need to get fancy, a beef stew or an extra large shepherd's pie will feed many and fill your guests with enough sustenance to counteract at least a few of those cocktails. And don’t you dare forget those potatoes! Step 5: Hire A Leprechaun Admit it, we’ve all wished for a little luck of the irish, hand delivered by a magical bearded mischief-maker. You’d be surprised how many websites are around these days to supply you with exactly that! We are truly living in the times of having anything and everything delivered to you at a moments notice. But move quickly, these little bundles of joy won’t be available for long! These tips will definitely keep your party popping off and if you need any more ideas, reach out to [email protected] or check out fatcityentertainment.com for some more inspiration

Valentine’s Day can either be a night to remember, or a complete pain in the kaboose. Well, I am here to tell you now, that IT CAN BE BOTH!
Ok, so for those of you reading this who do not really know what we do here, we create game’s nights that kooky entertainers like myself can download and use at parties, weekly trivia nights, or even big event productions. Some are “Team” games like Fat Bottom Trivia, or there are games that are more fun as individuals, such as Music dobOFF or Triv81.
Many of the games were written by myself personally, but some have been written by some of the other experienced hosts within our community. If you ever have suggestions for new games, or special requests, just let me know! -> [email protected] All the games have been tested in front of real audiences, and I know every game can be a great tool in your repertoire as an entertainer to create fun events, that people will remember and talk about for weeks after the fact. They are pretty much all family-friendly other than the slight innuendo here and there. In-yer-end-o.. Ha!
We now have games prepared for pretty much all the big holidays, and here are my top picks for Valentine’s Day this year!
Game #1 - The Opening Act, “Girls Vs Boys” Music Bingo
Game #2 - Now Let’s Get Them On Their Feet, “Lust & Love” Game Show
Plug your computer into a big-screen, or even use Chromecast or Apple TV to mirror your screen, and you are ready for an interactive Jeopardy!-esque game show. Though these games are more interactive with extra side-games, and a final challenge. You’ll need Powerpoint or an equivalent to run the program.
(Check out Brian and Chris Jones from the Jones Zone Podcast host this game for their friends at Loom Coworking in Fort Mill, South Carolina) Game #3 - Music Trivia Party - “Turnt Up”
If you want to take it up a notch, finish off with an all-music trivia game. Give bonus points to the teams with high energy, dancing and participation. These games are based on old-school entertaining we used to do at the bars with only 2 cd players and a wireless microphone. We’ve since cleaned up the format and added the questions and side-games on the big-screen. But a good host knows how to work a room with any tools at their disposal.
Don’t forget to follow the music playlist for this game. Thanks for sticking through this read. If you want some more information on how to host your own kick-ass parties, here’s a secret code for a free download of the Host Handbook from the trivia store: host100 I like to give bonuses for those of us who focus and can see things through until the end. :) |
