How to Build a Custom Trivia Night in Minutes with the Trivia Show Maker

8/13/2026

Most trivia hosts spend hours putting a show together — writing questions, formatting answer sheets, printing packets, and hoping everything holds up when the room is loud and the rounds are moving fast. It's the part of hosting nobody talks about because it's not the fun part.
The Trivia Show Maker changes that. It's a free tool that runs entirely in your browser: build your rounds, fill them with questions, and print a complete game kit — host packet, question sheets, team answer sheets, and score sheet — as ready-to-host PDFs. No app to install, no account to create, and once you print, the whole night runs on paper with no wifi or laptop needed at the table.

What You Get

The Trivia Show Maker builds a full game, not just a list of questions. When you hit print, it generates four PDFs:
  • Host packet — every question with the answer right there, formatted so you can read it aloud without squinting or flipping pages.
  • Question sheets — the same questions without answers, for a dedicated reader or a second host who's keeping the pace while you work the room.
  • Team answer sheets — blank, numbered sheets so teams can write their answers without you printing custom forms.
  • Score sheet — tracks every team's points by round, with totals, so scoring doesn't become its own argument at the end of the night.
That last one is the one hosts don't know they need until they're doing math on a napkin at 10 PM with three tables yelling at them.

Three Ways to Fill a Round

Every round in the Trivia Show Maker can be filled three different ways, and you can mix them freely.
Write your own. Type your questions and answers directly. Good for rounds built from your own material — local knowledge, inside jokes, themed questions for a specific event. The tool handles the formatting and the split between host and player packets, so all you're doing is writing the content.
Sample question packs. Drop in vetted, ready-to-use question sets by category. These are curated — not scraped from the internet — and filtered by the round's age range, so a family fundraiser and a 21+ bar quiz both pull from appropriate material without you hand-checking every question.
AI Studio — the part that changes everything. This is the optional add-on, and it's the reason a trivia night that used to take an evening to prep can happen in fifteen minutes.
Dig for Categories suggests five surprising round ideas based on whatever seed you give it. Type "90s pop culture" and it won't just come back with "90s Movies" — it'll suggest angles you wouldn't have thought of, like "Infomercial Products That Actually Worked" or "Sitcom Apartments You Could Draw From Memory." The suggestions are specific enough to host a round from, not just vague topic headings.
Generate 10 writes a complete round of ten questions from any topic, matching the round's answer format (open-ended, true/false, or multiple choice), age range, and difficulty setting. The questions come back fact-checked and formatted — ready to play, not a rough draft you need to edit.
You can set difficulty (Balanced, Easy, Medium, or Hard) and age range (Family, Kids, Teens, or Adults) per round, so the AI adapts to your crowd rather than producing generic bar-trivia boilerplate.
AI Studio runs on credits. The free tool works fully without it — you can build and print a complete game using your own questions and the sample packs at no cost. But if you're hosting weekly and need fresh material every time, the AI is what keeps it from becoming a second job. Credit packs start at $13.98 for 50 credits (about 25 rounds), and one-time packs never expire.

Who This Is For

Bar and restaurant hosts — you're running a weekly night and the bottleneck is always content. Writing ten good questions per round, across five or six rounds, every single week, is a grind — and reusing old material is how a regular crowd stops showing up. The AI generator solves the supply problem, and the printed packets mean you can hand a stack of paper to a new host and they can run the show without a laptop or any training.
Corporate and private event organizers — you need a one-off trivia night for a team outing, a holiday party, or a fundraiser, and you don't have a trivia company's library to pull from. The Trivia Show Maker gets you from "we should do trivia" to "here's the printed game" in one sitting, and the difficulty and age-range controls mean you can build something appropriate for the room without guessing.
Teachers and community groups — trivia works in classrooms and community centers the same way it works in bars. It's low-tech, social, and the format explains itself. The family and kids age ranges in the AI are built for this: age-appropriate questions, no bar-trivia assumptions, and the printed format means no screens in the room.

How It Fits With Music Bingo

If you're already running music bingo nights, trivia is the natural second format to add. Most hosts who run both alternate them — music bingo one week, trivia the next — or run a trivia round between bingo sets as a change of pace. The crowds overlap almost completely, and adding a second format is how you keep a weekly night from going stale without changing the venue or the marketing.
The playlist guide covers the music bingo side of building a rotation. The Trivia Show Maker handles the other half.

Just Print and Go

The whole design philosophy is that everything complicated happens in your browser before the event, and everything at the event happens on paper. No projector, no app for players to download, no wifi dependency, no "can everyone see my screen" — just printed packets and a host who can read questions out loud.
That's a deliberate choice. The simpler the night is to run, the more likely it actually happens every week. And a weekly night that actually happens is worth more than a flashy setup that burns out after a month.
