Trivia Night in New York, Five Boroughs at a Time

New York keeps its own weather underground. Steam lifts out of the manholes in January, the subway platforms hold July long after the street has let it go, and the 7 train rattles over Queens with the sunset flashing between the girders. On a Tuesday in Astoria, a Wednesday in Park Slope, a Thursday somewhere below 14th Street, teams with names too clever by half hunch over answer sheets and fight about whether Staten Island counts.
