How to compose the perfect trivia questions and answers. The hunt for Grade A trivia.
Writing a trivia question is a lot like writing a joke. You need a solid setup, and the answer should punch home that little pang of joy in the back of your head that comes with racking your mind for the seemingly impossible.
As a trivia host, that's your job. To deliver tiny explosions of endorphins that come along with answering a question correctly.
So what makes the best explosion in the minds of your trivia guests?

A. The Atomic Parts That Make Up A Trivia Question
Let's break down the trivia question and answer even further:
- The question has to include enough information to elicit a single possible response.
- The deeper the dive into your niche, the higher the satisfaction of figuring it out.
- If your answer is too esoteric, you risk that no members of your audience will be able to come up with the correct response.

I would say the most common mistake a trivia writer messes up when creating their weekly games is not accurately considering their audience.

Ask yourself these questions before you even begin writing down any trivia facts, at all:
- What age range of guests will be coming to this event?
- What do these people have in common? Example: This could be a company party for everyone that works at a grocery store. Perhaps categories regarding the price of goods could be fun for them, specifically.
- Where will this event take place? If it's going to be at a restaurant with food being served, some culinary categories may be in order. If it will be located at a community center with a hockey rink in it, maybe some hockey trivia would be in order.
- Is the audience going to be all ages? If the entire crowd will be adults, you could have more freedom with adult themed categories.
- Do you want the event to end up with music and dancing? You can incorporate music trivia categories to transition easier into the DJ part of the evening.
- How long do you want the event to last? Rapid fire questions may only take up a few minutes, where riddles or video clues may take several minutes each.
