What Is Music Bingo?
Music bingo is bingo played with songs instead of called numbers. Every player gets a card printed with song titles or artist names. The host plays a clip of each track, and players mark off the matching square when they recognise it. The first to complete a line, the four corners, or a full card wins. It is sometimes called musical bingo, song bingo or song title bingo.
What is "Music Dob-Off"?
Music Dob-Off is our name for the format. It is a bingo-style, casual, DJ-based game where guests "dob" off the correct musical answers to hints in the songs being played. "Dobber" is the marker pen you dab the squares with — the same thing North American players usually call a dauber. The game is the same; the name is ours.
How is it different from regular bingo?
Nothing is called out. The song is the clue, so players have to recognise it themselves, and the room fills with people singing along and arguing about who had it first. It rewards knowing music rather than luck alone, and it gives everyone at a table something to do between wins.
How many people can play?
Anywhere from 3 people to well over 100 at once. Each of our game packs prints up to 250 randomized cards, so the room size is limited by your seating rather than by the game. That range is why it works for a family living room and a full brewery on the same set of files.
What themes can you play?
Anything with a shared musical thread. Decades like the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s are the classics, but the games people ask for most tend to be more specific: Hair Bands, Motown, Disco, 90s R&B, Movie Soundtracks, Christmas Party. There are also word-game variants — Anagrams, Antonyms, Acronyms and Nicknames — where the square is a puzzle rather than the plain title.
What do you need to run it?
A device to play music from, a sound system the whole room can hear, printed cards, and something to mark them with. Our game packs include the cards, a callsheet listing every song in order, and a ready-made Spotify and Apple Music playlist, so there is no playlist to build.
