Go for the gold! We are running a little sport's trivia contest over here, and we want you to join in on the fun! Here at Fat City Entertainment, we are always looking for way to add a little fun. So, what better way to inspire some trivia-love than having a contest? Starting today, June 15th, you can get a chance to win a 4-pack of Sport's Trivia questions. All you have to do is stump us with your best bit of sports related trivia. It doesn't matter which sport the trivia comes from either. Love basketball? Great! Synchronized swimming? Sounds good! Mixed martial arts? Fantastic! Hit us with an American football question or and off-the-wall shuffleboard question, we don't care. The person with the best piece of trivia will be crowned the winner. So, what makes for a good sport's trivia question? Well, you can ask a question regarding general sports facts, like... Who invented the game of basketball? Or you could ask us to recall some obscure game rule, like... In golf, is there a penalty for wiping dew of of your ball? Or you could ask us to name some team stats or player achievements, like... Who is the youngest driver to win the Daytona 500? Or you could ask us to remember some bit of sport's figure celebrity, like... Which Green Bay Packer had his own candy bars in the late 1990s? Obviously, you don't want to send any of those questions...but you get the idea. The trickier your piece of trivia the better, the goal is for us to have to google that stuff because it is so tricky even trivia gurus like us don't know the answer! Now for the rules, and there is really only one hard and fast rule. Your trivia question has to have a verifiable source. No stories about how your sister's boyfriend's cousin's mama used to babysit for Michael Jordan and he used to...blah, blah, blah. Nope. If we can't google it and find a for real source, you're out. You are free to enter as many times as you like, as long as you have a new question for each entry, and you get those entries in between today and July 15th. Got it? Your prize, the 4-pack of sport's trivia questions, is a digital download, no shipping required. What does that mean? Anyone, anywhere can enter, assuming you have a valid email address where we can send you a download code. Yay for technology! Ready to enter? Fill out the form below, easy peasy. Put your trivia question in the comment box, and you are all set. Update: Contest is closed Good Luck!

Ever wondered how a trivia host get their start in the wide world of hosting? It isn't actually a career many people even know is an option, right? The entertainment industry as a whole often feels like this mysterious world that other people move around in, but not like something normal everyday people can just do, right? Well, here to shed a little light on all of that mystery is one of our Fat City Entertainment hosts, Ryan Henderson. Get your peek into the entertainment industry with Ryan! Can you tell us a little bit about your background? Although I live in Charlotte now, I'm actually a native of Philadelphia, and I attended Rowan University in South Jersey where I obtained a BA in Communication (Radio, TV, Film). I interned at NBC 10 and ABC 6 in Philadelphia, did some freelance work, and I also taught TV Production at Glassboro High School in New Jersey. What initially drew you to the entertainment industry? I love to entertain a crowd. Seeing people laughing and smiling and just having a good time makes me feel great, and it’s contagious! What skills do you think are most important to being a good trivia host? The ability to know your audience is key to any public event, and that is a skill you cannot really teach. What is the craziest thing that has ever happened at a hosting gig? Once, a gentleman tried to pay me in whisky to give him the answers to the trivia questions. What advice do you have for someone just starting out or even just considering hosting as an option? You need to have a thick skin, and you can't be afraid to interact with your audience. You have to make them (the audience) feel like you are one of them. Tell us one random fact about you. I once held the juggling record for Rowan University. The record was 30 minutes. Where can we see you in action? I am hosting the Tuesday night music bingo show at Duckworth's Taphouse on Tryon Uptown. Well, there you have it! If you are in Charlotte, make sure to go hang with Ryan and Duckworth's and win some sweet Music dobOFF prizes! Get ready to mmmbop your way over to grab your copy on June 7th! Are your ready for the next Music dobOFF set? It hits the store Thursday June 6th! Fat City Entertainment loves a good game of music bingo, and people everywhere agree because it is one of the fastest growing entertainment choices of bars and restaurants. The game is so easy to get started, and who doesn’t love a good playlist? For those of you who have never played music bingo before, let us give you a quick rundown on how the game works. Players are given printed bingo cards, but unlike those boring old traditional bingo cards that contain nothing but a bunch of numbers, the squares on music bingo cards are filled with song titles, music genres, or the names of music artists. The host then plays a couple minutes of a song, and all of the players have to match the song that is being played with one of the squares on their cards. Then it works out just like regular bingo: vertical, horizontal, diagonal, four corners, or black out! Does it sound like fun to you? Well, you aren’t wrong, because it is, tons of fun. Not only is it super fun, though, it can be super challenging as well! Many of the Music dobOFF cards we have created aren’t all that straightforward, and the clues can be a bit tricky. Players will have to use their music trivia skills if they wanna win...and of course they want to win. The One Hit Wonders set includes all your favorite bands that hit it big...but only with just the one song. One Hit Wonders spans genres and decades bringing the chart topping music like Soft Cell’s Tainted Love or Who Let The Dogs Out by Baja Men. How many more hits do you think you can name? Enough to be the reigning music bingo champion? These music bingo cards will be available for instant download in the trivia store on Thursday, June 7th, and you can follow the accompanying playlist on Spotify. Yep. We made it that easy. Whether you want a game to play at your next summer BBQ or you plan on hosting your own Music Bingo show, One Hit Wonders is sure to be a crowd-pleaser! Psst! If you are local to the Charlotte Metro area, and want to play a round or two of Fat City’s Music dobOFF music bingo game, hit up one of our weekly shows. We have games going on Tuesdays at Duckworth’s in Uptown and The Casual Pint in Rivergate on Sundays each and every week! If you aren’t local to the Charlotte area, you can download your own music bingo cards, and we can help you start your own show! Just drop us an email, and we will help you with all the tips and tricks we know! |
